MIRPURKHAS, Aug 12: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed irrigation officials to ensure water supply to tail-end areas of waterways. Speaking at an open kutchehry in the Mohammad Hashim Ramdani village, Digri taluka, on Thursday, he said the irrigation secretary and the additional secretary had been changed because they had failed to provide water to tail-end growers. He directed the new secretary for irrigation to improve the system.

The chief minister ordered to suspend Mir Fateh Ali Khan, chairman of the Mureed Minor farmers’ organization, on complaints of growers.

He announced that Puran distributary would be constructed next year.

He rejected a plea of irrigation officials that there was shortage of water, saying it was mismanagement on their part which was causing water shortage. He said the water situation was much better as the Kotri Barrage was receiving a heavy discharge of water.

On this occasion, people belonging to Ramdani, Mari, Chang, Pathan, Bhatti, Arain, Junejo, Khair, Abrang, Magsi, Kaloi and Nohani biradaris assured him of their support in the local body elections.

Dr Rahim appealed to people to vote for Khushhal Pakistan Panel candidates because they would come up to their expectations.

Meanwhile, he told a gathering in the Faqeer Bashir Leghari village that Rs16 million had been released to the investigation wing of the Mirpurkhas police.

The chief minister also visited the Basheer Public Library where he was briefed about old books and currency.

Later, he attended receptions hosted by Abdul Rehman Arain and Ali Hassan Qaimkhani.

He announced an ambulance for the Digri Taluka Hospital and construction of a circular road.
