ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has said the decision about registration of seminaries was final and warned that no hindrance would be tolerated in the registration process.

“Registration of madressahs is a final decision. No impediments will be tolerated on the way to the registration. Registration ….is imperative. Modern scientific education should be imparted in these religious schools so that the students studying there should also play their role in all walks of life, like other students,” the president said while talking to NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman who had called on him at the Army House on Monday.

According to an Online news agency report, the president said the ongoing campaign in Waziristan against terrorists would be stepped up.

He hailed the development projects undertaken in the tribal areas and stressed that development of the under-developed and backward areas would create employment opportunities and bring the region at par with other parts of the country.

Education and healthcare facilities should be provided to the tribesmen and basic infrastructure in the area should be improved, he added.

The president said stern action would be taken against anti-social elements who were opposed to development.

About the local body elections, he said implementation of the code of conduct announced by the Election Commission should be ensured so that the elections were held in a fair and transparent manner.

Governor Rehman apprised the president of what he termed obstacles being put up by the NWFP government in the process of registration of religious schools.
