KARACHI, Aug 8: The Central Admission Committee of the city government on Monday decided to extend the last date for submission of admission forms for first year classes in the government run colleges and higher secondary schools in the city up to Aug 15.

The EDO (higher education) of the CDGK, Prof M Rais Alvi, told Dawn on Monday that the decision to extend the date from Aug 10 to 15 was taken by the admission committee, in view of the fact that most of the students seeking admissions were not in possession of matriculation marks sheets of the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi.

He said that about 35,000 admission forms were sold by the designated banks while only 400 forms were submitted back by the students.

Prof Alvi said that the committee also decided that the students who had passed the SSC annual exams 2005, under BSEK would be allowed to submit the admission forms without the photocopy of the SSC marks sheets.

However, students having passed the SSC and technical school examinations from other than the BSEK and O level candidates are required to submit the photocopy of their marks sheets or award certificates as per the admission policy of the government given earlier, he clarified and said that no date for the submission of forms will be extended after Aug 10.
