KARACHI, Aug 8: Three more corruption references against former managing director of Thatta Cement Factory and two others were filed on Monday before the administrative judge of the accountability courts, Mrs Qaiser Iqbal, by the National Accountability Bureau.

The judge fixed Aug 11 for the formal hearing of the references against Riazul Hasan Rizvi, former TCF MD, Maqsood Ahmed, manager sales, and a cement dealer Mohammed Ashraf, who were charged with causing losses to the national exchequer through fake rebate claims.

The dealers - Iqbal and Uttam Perkash – were held in April.

On July 7, the administrative judge ordered release of both dealers after approving their plea of bargain. The two dealers approached NAB chairman with bargain plea agreeing to pay back the amount. The NAB chairman, accepted their plea and referred it to the accountability courts for approval. Uttam Parkash deposited Rs900,000 to the extent of his liability, while accused Iqbal made a partial payment of Rs2.35 million out of his total Rs6.92 million liability.
