KARACHI, Aug 8: Eight ships, including Jat Na Mu with 11,000 tons of sugar, are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships, Maersk Alsaka, Itha Bhum, Thor Captain and United Prosperity, to unload and load containers, Shalamar to offload crude oil were berthed after the departure of seven.
The departing ships were led by CMA CGM Karibu, Sagamore, Precious, Maersh Alaska, Kardaran Star, Chitral and Pacific Ace, while United Prosperity, Itah Bhum are due to sail out on Tuesday.
Owing to larger handling of the liquid cargo, the total tonnage rose to a record level of 0.180m tons comprising 27,385 tons of export cargo and 0.153m tons of import tonnage, including 72,736 tons of liquid one.
The following ships are due on Tuesday: Hanibal-11, to load 23,000 tons of molasses, APL Jeddah, Monoxylion, Bunga Delima, Elbe Oldendroff, with containers, Phoros, with steel, Jat Na Mu, with 11,000 tons of imported sugar, and Banglar Urmi, with 3,393 jute bags and 5,000 logs.
