AC frames charges against ex-official

PESHAWAR, Aug 5: The Accountability Court on Friday framed charges against former district food controller Kohat for his alleged involvement in financial embezzlement and accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.

The accused, Zia-ul-Haq, was charged with being involved in embezzlement of Rs29,695,991 and misuse of authority.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities had arrested him on April 28.

Meanwhile, the NAB filed a corruption reference against Senior Postmaster Yaqoob and his accomplices Fazle Rabbi, Sajid Ali, Safdar, Sajid Ali and Abdul Naseer in the accountability court of Judge Said Maroof Shah.

The NAB had arrested them on May 7 for their alleged involvement in drawing pension money to the tune of Rs6,179,000 on fake names.—APP
