SAHIWAL, Aug 5: The Anti-Corruption Establishment registered a case of illegal gratification against the SHO and additional SHO of Dera Rahim police station. Farmer Mushtaq Ahmad said his four buffaloes and their calves were stolen on July 5 from Chak 131/9-L. Additional SHO Raja Iqbal recovered the animals.

He alleged that when he demanded the return of the cattle, he was asked to give illegal gratification. He paid Rs18,000 to SHO Inspector Sarfraz Ahmad Gilani, a 16-kilogram tin of desi ghee and three cots and Rs10,000 to the additional SHO.

Later, he informed the ACE which conducted an inquiry and accordingly registered cases against SHO Sarfraz Gilani and additional SHO Raja Iqbal. No arrest has so far been made.

ACCIDENT: Four people have reportedly been killed and 13 others injured in different accidents.

Two passengers were killed while eight others injured when a speeding wagon overturned on the Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road near Chak 81/D on Thursday night.

Police said Tufail and Rabia Khanam were killed on the spot while eight others injured, four of the seriously. They are: Allah Jawai, Noor Fatima, Sakeena and Marium.

A Chunian farmer Allah Wasaya and his son Muazzam were killed when their car overturned at a sharp turn on Burewala-Arifwala Road near Chak 241/EB. His wife Samreena, driver Farid and three children sustained injuries.
