PTCL workers accept Rs5bn package

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: The PTCL Workers Unions Action Committee here on Thursday announced that it had resolved its differences with the management over the privatization of the company and had accepted a package of over Rs5 billion in the “national interest”.

Speaking at a joint press conference at the Press Information Department (PID) here, representatives of the action committee, which is comprised of eight unions and the PTCL management, said they had sorted out differences and would now work jointly for the development of the company.

In reply to a question, member of the action committee, Mohammad Hanif said the committee had accepted the package, as it was in the interest of the workers and now they had no objection over the privatization of PTCL.

PTCL senior executive vice-president Shahzad Saddle said the management would withdraw cases against the union leaders and the paramilitary forces would soon leave the premises of various vital installations of the company.
