21 faint after taking stale food

GUJRANWALA, Aug 1: As many as 21 people of two families fainted after eating stale food at Chak Jagna and Jandiala Baghwala locality here on Monday. Reports said three women, Rehana Bibi, Kalsoom and Nazia Bibi came to their relative Muhammad Nawaz’s house along with their children Naveed, Shahzad, Iqbal and others. After taking meal, all family members, including guests, fainted.

They were rushed to the DHQ hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. The doctor said they fainted after eating stale food. Meanwhile, seven people were brought to the DHQ from Jandiala Baghwala who also had reportedly taken stale food.

TEAM BEATEN UP: A joint raiding team of the tehsil municipal administration and police was beaten by gas cylinder shopkeepers during a crackdown on them in Garjakh area here on Monday.

However, the police later arrested 10 shopkeepers and registered a case against them.

Reports said the city tehsil council launched a campaign against gas cylinder shopkeepers on charges of selling defective cylinders and having no licences. On Monday, almost 50 shopkeepers gathered on seeing the raiding team members and allegedly manhandled them.

HEARING: The local anti-terrorism court No. 2 continued the hearing of the murder case of PPP city president Chaudhry Khalid Hamayun here on Monday. All murder accused were present in the court.
