King Fahd’s death widely condoled

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: Senate Chairman, National Assembly speaker, deputy speaker, ministers, ruling party and opposition leaders expressed profound grief over the passing away of King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz.

In their condolence messages to Crown Prince Abdullah, they said the people and Pakistan government would remember for ever the services of King Fahd for them. They termed the death of Shah Fahd as a great loss to the Muslim Ummah and said the devotion and services of King Fahd to Muslims will be remembered for along. They said death of King Fahd created a vast vacuum of leadership and the hearts of whole Ummah are filled with deep sorrow and grief.

King Fahd displayed visionary readership and played very vital role in resolving problems, and meeting the challenges faced by the Muslim World, they observed. King Fahd prudently led his people and the Muslims through a difficult and challenging era, they said. They said, King Fahd endeavoured throughout his life for the uplift and protection of the Muslims and pleaded their cause in all international forums.

They said his philanthropist services for the Muslims of the world were unprecedented and would be remembered for ever. His role to revitalize the OIC was exemplary.

They said that Pakistan-Saudi friendship reached at its zenith during the era of King Fahd and added that he also took several measures to promote the friendship with West and US besides playing active role for the solidarity of Muslim Ummah. was remarkable. They also appreciated the positive approach of new crown prince who had two important challenges ahead of him that include revival of the relation with US and West besides making OIC a dynamic and proactive organization.

Those who condoled the Saudi king’s death included Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro, National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain, Deputy Speaker Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, and PML Secretary-General Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed.

PML-N: Chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-N and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed his heartfelt condolence over the death of Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and termed his death a great loss to the Muslim Ummah.

In a message issued from Jeddah and released by the PML-N central secretariat here on Monday, the former prime minister said that King Fahd was a true sympathizer of the Ummah and worked hard for the betterment of the Islamic world.

Mr Sharif welcomed the ascension of Crown Prince Abdullah to the throne and expressed the hope that the country would progress more in his leadership. He also expressed the hope that King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz would continue the efforts for the betterment of Islamic world and the relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would further improve.

Former president of Pakistan Rafiq Tarar, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, party chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, acting PML-N president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, acting parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and information secretary Siddiqul Farooque also expressed condolence over the death of King Fahd.

ICCI: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of King Fahd and said that his death was irreparable loss to the Muslim Ummah.

The ICCI president Tariq Sadiq and Vice-President Khalid Mahmood Chaudhry in a joint statement said King Fahd had devoted his life for unity among Muslims and had the honour of hosting crores of Muslims.
