KARACHI, July 31: Saddar Town’s Caretaker Mukhtar Hussain has appealed to residents of the buildings, declared unsafe by the Karachi Building Control Authority, to shift to safer places in view of expected monsoon rains.
He issued the directive during his visit to these buildings in Saddar Town here on Sunday.
He expressed concern that the residents of these buildings, who had not yet shifted to other places, were at great risk during the rainy season as dwelling in these buildings could lead to any tragedy. He asked residents of dangerous buildings to vacate them immediately in line with precautionary measures.
Mukhtar Hussain said that two relief camps at Jamshed Ahmed Khan School near PIDC and Government Girls School near Haqqani Chowk had been established for meeting any emergency during rains.
Besides, he added, relief committees had also been formed in the town which would monitor the situation in all the union councils and shift the victims of rain to safer places and make arrangements during emergencies.
The caretaker directed the officials concerned to keep the rainwater disposal machines in proper order for use in low lying areas and ensure full attendance of the staff.—APP
