SUKKUR July 29: The Sindh Government is taking a number of steps to promote economic activities in interior Sindh, besides, reviving the sick industrial units which would accelerate trade and business activity as well as help overcome unemployment. The federal government has already approved dry port for Sukkur, which would augment government’s efforts to boost trade and business activities in this area.

This was stated by Provincial Minister for Labour, Industries, Commerce and Transport, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui here on Friday. He said the federal government had approved over Rs3 billion package for small and medium industries in Sindh including Noori Abad Karachi. This would be in addition to another Rs1 billion package which would be utilized by Sindh government for promoting industrial activity in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and other districts.

He said, the investment climate in Karachi and elsewhere in Sindh was quite conducive for trade and industrial activity. He said that applications for medium and large units would be disposed of under one-window facility, and warned that all complaints in this regard may be directed to him for immediate action.

The minister said that a contract had been signed to engage the services of 50 garment technicians from China, to impart teaching and training to the local youths in design courses. He said the First Women Bank has been asked to extend maximum financial assistance to women investors.

A 5-member committee including Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor, Fatima Suraya Bujiya, President First Women Bank, Zareen Majeed and Samina Pirzada had been constituted to work out a formula under which First Women Bank would provide maximum technical expertise and financial assistance to the women in interior Sindh, he said.
