LAHORE, Jan 13: The long shot bay gelding One Man Show steered by jockey Kamran won the Muzaffarabad Cup run over a mile during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Trained by Mohammad Amin, One Man Show ran in a nice style coming in from the fourth position to pass the front-runners and win the cup. He defeated the blue roan gelding Millennium Count by three-and-quarter lengths, who failed to match his strides.

The five-year-old chestnut horse Good Justice ran gamely to finish third, another seven lengths behind while the bay horse Great Grandy completed the frame, two-and-a-half lengths further back among eleven starters.

The bay mare Fanim, failed to stride out under the top-weight of 10 stones 8 pounds and ran disappointingly to finish fifth among eleven starters.

One Man show clocked one minute 40 4/5 seconds for the mile distance.

The fancied bay filly Democracy in a fine front running performance won the Maidens Plate for three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies run over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.

Ridden by jockey, M. Hanif this daughter of Cisco Wells- out-of-Let Get Going, Democracy led all the way home to beat another bay filly Red Storm by three and three-quarters-of-a- length handily.

The bay colt Game Master finished third another seven lengths back while Chief Executive came staggering a distance behind to complete the board.

Only seven ran for this supporting and fourth event of the day.

The outstanding performance of the day came in the second race when a four-year-old roan filly Oneeza outclassed her 16 rivals by storming to an easy success.

Leading right from the start, the filly made every post a winning won, clocking one minute 15 seconds over the six furlongs distance.

The bay colt Dhandhana finished second, two-and-three quarters lengths behind. The fancied filly Deep River and the chestnut colt Dynamite completed the board among 17 runners.

The grey gelding Martial Law ran a good race comfortably accounting for his 16 rivals in the third race to register a surprise victory. Martial Law beat fancied Cisco Magic by a neck. The roan blue horse Love Moon and the dark bay filly Storm Bird finished third and fourth. In all, 17 ran for the event contested over a mile.

The ace jockey, Shahid Rehman, partnering Cisco Magic and Red Storm used all his skills but finished second on both his mounts. He was particularly unlucky to be beaten on Cisco Magic by a neck from Martial Law.

Trainer Mohammad Afzal saddled two winners in Martial Law and Aao Payar Se in the third and sixth race.

Only one favourite, Democracy, won in a card of six events. All the other events were lifted by ignored horses.
