LAHORE, July 20: The Punjab government will spend Rs30 million on revamping the storm water drainage system in the city and take steps for preventing construction of buildings on drains. Provincial Tourism Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal stated this at a meeting held here on Wednesday to assess the damage caused to Singhar Centre, Old Anarkali, due to storm water.
He said a three-member committee headed by Data Ganj Bakhsh Town TMO had been formed to submit its report on damage caused to the centre within three days.
He said the owners of Singhar Centre and adjoining Rana Centre should compensate the Singhar Centre shopkeepers for their losses so that they could start their business again.
He said the centre had been flooded and shopkeepers had suffered losses because proper arrangements had not been made for storm water drainage.
