PESHAWAR, Jan 13: NWFP Governor Lt-Gen (retd) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said the government is trying to ensure the provision of health care to the people.
The government would do whatever it could to ensure a judicious use of resources to the satisfaction of patients, he said during a surprise visit to Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, on Sunday.
Scattered resources were being gathered for the well-being of the people, said the governor, who will also visit Mansehra during his two-day stay in the town.
He said that after receiving a number of complaints, the government had decided to improve the health sector at the district level.
He went round various sections and wards of the college hospital and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients.
The governor also paid an unscheduled visit to the office of the district Nazim, and said it was the policy of the government to establish district secretariats to redress the public grievances.
He expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work on various development schemes, saying that the work should be expedited in order to make the devolution plan a success.
The district Nazim, Col Mustafa, and others accompanied the governor to the college.—PPI
