Premier’s US visit to be rescheduled

ISLAMABAD, July 16: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s visit to the US and Canada has been postponed and will be rescheduled. A foreign office statement said on Saturday that the visit had been postponed for the time being.

“Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is looking forward to his meetings with US President George W. Bush and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and has expressed his deep appreciation to the two leaders for their understanding for the request to reschedule the visit for a later date,” the statement said.

Convenient dates will be worked out mutually through diplomatic channels. The FO statement said Pakistan attached importance to its multi-faceted and cooperative relations with the United States and Canada.

“We are engaged in the process of further deepening and expanding our special relationship with the two countries,” it added.—APP
