PESHAWAR, July 12: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq on Monday said that the MMA-led provincial government believed in welfare politics and it had always acted in national interest, without yielding to any pressure. He was addressing public meetings at Maskeeni, Monda, Gotkey and Shahi, remote mountainous villages of Lower Dir district during his 2-day visit to the area on Monday.

He said that people gave the mandate to MMA for enforcing the Islamic system.

He said the victory of the MMA candidates in the by-elections on national and provincial assemblies and Senate seats had exposed the negative propaganda of opponents that MMA’s success in the general elections was people’s emotional decision.

He said that people had decided to establish judicious system based on Shariah and the MMA was working for the fulfilment of their dream. He said MMA candidates in the forthcoming local council elections would emerge triumphant and a set-up would be made wherein poor would have more respect than the rich and influential people.

Earlier, addressing workers at a meeting of the Jamaat-i-Islami at Samarbagh, he said that the MMA would try to enforce the Islamic system in the country with the support of the masses.
