KARACHI, July 12: The Caretaker of the city government, Fazalur Rehman, has announced to cut regularization rates for private hospitals as done for private schools. According to a KBCA press release on Tuesday, private hospital owners can get their buildings regularized by paying from Rs800 to Rs2,000 per sq-yd.
In this regard, the KBCA Chief, Brig A.S. Nasir, through a letter, had recommended to the city government to provide facility of land use transfer to private hospital owners similar to that of private schools at low rates.
Mr Fazal then cut regularization fees for private hospitals after consideration. The regularization rates have been set by dividing the city into four areas.
Rates for Clifton, Bath Island, Frere Town and Civil Lines Area is Rs2,000; for PECHS, KCHS, Society and Jamshed Quarters it is Rs1,500; for F.B. Area, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Gulistan-i-Jauhar it is Rs1,200; and for North Karachi, Surjani, Korangi, Orangi, SITE, Qasba, Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulshan-i-Hadid, Metroville, KDA Scheme 33, Liaquatabad and Katchi Abadis it is Rs800 per sq-yd.
The KBCA chief has appealed to owners of private hospitals to avail the opportunity and legalize their businesses.
The last date for regularizing private hospitals is September 30, 2005, which was set by ex-City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan.—PPI
