KHAAR (Bajaur Agency), July 6: Nearly 25 people, most of them Afghans, were arrested in a mid-night operation conducted by tribal security forces at a refugee camp in the Mamond sub-division on Tuesday. The security forces seized sophisticated weapons, anti-personnel mines, oxygen masks, batteries, military uniforms and shoes, a satellite phone set, cables and headgear of fighter jet pilots during a house-to-house search in the Kamarsar Shahjehanabad-II refugee camp.
The operation was launched in the early hours on Wednesday which continued till 10am.
The operation, jointly conducted by the Bajaur Scouts, Khasadars and Bajaur Levies, was headed by Political Agent Mohammad Fahim Wazir, Commandant Bajaur Scouts and chief of the Mamond tribe Malik Shahjehan.
Mamond sub-division tehsildar Amir Zaman said the operation was launched to check the recurring explosions in the vicinity of the Kamarsar camp.
He said that a number of blasts had occurred around the camp during the past two days.
A political official said that the detained people had been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
