KARACHI, Jan 11: PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has said that transfer of power to elected representatives is inevitable for the survival of the country.
Speaking to a gathering of party leaders and workers in Noorani Colony, Lyari, he warned of “worst anarchy” in the country if the government to be elected through the general election in October were not given freedom to chalk out its own future plans.
Mr Khuhro said it was time Benazir Bhutto and other democratic forces were allowed to play their role to steer the country out of the political and economic crises it had been facing for long.
He remarked that vindictive actions against Benazir Bhutto, Asif Zardari, Jehangir Badar and other leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party was a conspiracy to harm the unity of the country while the principles of justice and accountability were being violated by granting what he called “extra-judicial release” to leaders of other parties.
Prof N. D. Khan said the government had become so weak that it had to beg of the West to provide it with security.
Others speakers included Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra, Rashid Rabbani, Nabil Gabol and Habib Junedi.
