KARACHI, June 22: The mercury in the city rose to 42.2 degrees centigrade on Wednesday with low humidity of 33 per cent. The current trend of winds will continue for the next two days.

Meteorological department has forecast hot and humid weather with chances of thunderstorm and light rain in Karachi over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures ranging from 38 to 40 degrees Centigrade.

The chief meteorologist at the local Met Office, Arif Mehmood, told APP that the temperature had shot up due to the existing low pressure system in the Arabian Sea and hot and dry winds from north.

“The system in Arabian sea has suspended the normal flow of cool winds to Karachi,” he said.

According to the Met office, dust, thunderstorm and scattered light rain is expected during the next 24 hours in entire Sindh.

SEA CONDITIONS: The meteorological department said on Wednesday that winds at sea and along the coast might blow from southeast to northeast at the speed of 25-30 knots, and gusting up to 40 knots.

The sea conditions are likely to be rough near the coast and very rough in the deep sea. —APP
