KARACHI, June 18: In a meeting the teachers of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Gulshan-i-Iqbal campus on Saturday decided to call off their ongoing strike and announced to resume academic activities on June 20. A source on the campus said though diverse opinions were given during the meeting of the Anjuman Asatiza, Gulshan campus, it was finally resolved that teachers should start taking teaching and examination assignments from Monday and should also give some time to the university administration.

Since different authorities have assured the varsity administration for improving the security arrangements and protection to the lives of teachers, students and other staff on the campus, it would be in the fitness of things to see the results of efforts made during the last few days, said president of the Anjuman, Syed Asghar Ali.

The university teachers had gone on strike on Wednesday to register their protest against the manhandling of few of the teaching and administrative staff by a group of students on Tuesday last. In the wake of strike teaching and examination remained suspended from Wednesday to Saturday.

According to the controller of examination, the BA (private) annual exams would now be held from Monday (June 20) as per the schedule.

The minister regretting the June 14 incident on the campus, assured that stern actions would be taken against those nominated in the FIR or were involved in the unruly development, said a university press release.
