JACOBABAD, June 1: Six bogies and the engine of the 20-down Khushhal Khan Khattak Express derailed near Bijarani railway station in the Thul area on Wednesday. No loss of life was reported. The train was coming to Karachi from Peshawar.

Engine driver Baba Rais Ahmed told journalists that while the train was moving at high speed, it appeared to him that the track ahead was unbolted. He applied brakes while ensuring that the train did not get out of control. However, when it approached the station, the engine and the bogies derailed, he added.

The Thul TPO, along with a heavy police contingent, reached the spot and cordoned off the area for security reasons. No railways official reached the spot. Later, the passengers took out a procession, raising slogans against the railways authorities. The train was awaiting departure till the filing of this report.
