KARACHI, May 31: The chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and minister of state, Tariq Ikram has sought bilateral as well as multilateral agreements with Kenya and African economic bloc. The EPB chief, in a meeting with Kenya’s Finance Minister David Mwiraria in Nairobi, thanked for his assistance in getting extra duty by East African countries on imported rice removed and retaining it for 24 months.

Mr Ikram apprised the minister of the government’s investment friendly policies and intention to focus its foreign trade to Africa in the spirit of south-south cooperation. He informed the minister of the development of the Africa strategy, the warehousing project and other initiative to build the economic relations with Kenya.

Finance Minister David Mwiraria thanked chairman EPB for his comprehensive briefing on the improving security situation in Pakistan and said it would attract more foreign investment and boost exports. He proposed exchange of high level visits by the two countries aimed at benefiting from each others experience. The minister warned the developing countries of the threat posed by the developed countries in the shape of subsidized products and exports.
