LAHORE, Jan 8: The National Accountability Bureau, Punjab, on Tuesday arrested a grade one officer of Habib Bank on corruption charges under the NAB Ordinance, 1999.
According to a NAB release, Zubair Beg Mirza, working in the Dharampura branch, withdrew Rs 3.6 million from the funds reserved for the welfare of the workers.
Introducing his father, Mirza Abid Hussain Beg, as Labour and Manpower secretary and Workers Welfare Board chairman, he opened his factitious account in the branch and assisted him in withdrawing funds to the tune of Rs 3.6 million reserved for the welfare of the workers.—APP
