PESHAWAR, May 20: The Peshawar High Court on Friday granted bail to the husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law a woman who was allegedly poisoned to death last year. Chief Justice Tariq Pervez ordered release of the three on furnishing case two sureties of Rs100,000 each.

Syedul Ibrar, the husband of Islam Naz, his mother Ms Mohmanda and brother Tahir Ali, were charged in an FIR registered at the Akora Khattak police station on July 5 last year.

The FIR was registered by Jamshed Khan, father of the woman. He stated that her daughter had strained relations with her husband and in-laws over domestic issues and the had frequent altercations among them. He also named Sajida, a sister-in-law of the deceased, who has been absconding.

The complainant said that on the day of incident he had been informed by his son-in-law that his daughter was seriously ill. When he reached their home in Pir Sabak village he found his daughter had expired.

The post-mortem report, according to him, confirmed that the death was caused by some poison.

Barrister Masood Kausar appeared for the applicants and contended that the woman had committed suicide and the applicants were falsely implicated. He said that there was no evidence on record to prove that they had poisoned her.

He added that the complainant had implicated the entire family and did not specify who had given her poison.

The counsel for the complainant contended that if the woman had committed suicide the bottle of poison should have been lying near her. But no bottle had been found, which according to him proved that she had been poisoned.
