QUETTA, May 20: Every drop of water is important for Balochistan which is facing storage of drinking and irrigation water and the farmers and growers should utilize it carefully. This was stated by Governor Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani while speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of one-day training workshop jointly organized by the Pakistan Horticulture Development Export Board and Smeda and Engro Asahi for growers and farmers to highlight the benefits of trickle irrigation technology.
He said that the federal government has provided Rs200 million for developing the system in the province and added that the government would give concessions to those growers and landlords who would adopt trickle irrigation technology in the province.
The Governor urged upon both the growers and landlords to adopt modern trickle irrigation system while irrigating their farmlands.
He said that Balochistan always faced water shortage and, with the passage of time, this problem was becoming more serious while eight year long drought had worsened the situation in the province.
