KARACHI, May 12: Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah on Thursday said that there was nothing wrong in Kunwar Naveed’s resolution demanding preference to local people in private sector jobs. Talking to newsmen after Thursday’s session, Mr Shah said that many multi-nationals had made investments in oil and gas, coal, mineral and agricultural sectors. Quota system was also intended to give preference to less-developed areas of the province which was also the intention of the resolution.

Unfortunately, Mr Shah observed, everything was so much politicized that real issues were relegated. He was of the view that the resolutions of Kunwar Naveed and Nisar Khuhro were similar. But if Syed Qaim Ali Shah’s contention that Mr Naveed’s resolution was a violation of the constitution is accepted, then neither of the two could be taken up.

He said the resolution was mere recommendation, and not binding.
