KARACHI, Jan 7: Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs, Maulana Wali Razi, while highlighting the role of Ulema towards guiding the people in the society, urged them that in view of the prevailing situation they should impress upon the masses to set aside their petty differences and work unitedly for strengthening the country and for its progress and prosperity.

He was presiding over a meeting of the Ulema Amn Committee of Sindh in his office here on Monday.

The meeting was attended by the Ulema from all over Sindh and their representatives, said a statement.

It said the meeting was aimed at considering recommendations for fostering practical contact between the Ulema and the administration for the maintenance of the law and order as well as for the religious and sectarian harmony.

The minister suggested that in view of the prevailing situation a high-powered committee should be formed and problems should be resolved in the light of its recommendations.

He pointed out that mosques were a very strong institution in the society and that their rightful use would help get rid of differences and disputes.

Allama Wali Razi reminded the Ulema of their role and responsibilities and asked the administration to enhance its contact with the Ulema Amn Committee and in instances where law and order situation arises, the committee be facilitated to play its role.—APP
