Six strokes lead for Munir

ISLAMABAD, May 7: Muhammad Munir maintained his lead in professional category of the President of Pakistan Open Gold Medal Golf Championship on Saturday with another fine round at Islamabad Club.

Munir, of the host club carded six under par 66, the same as he had on the first day, as he finished with an aggregate score of 132 over two days.

Continuing his fine form, Munir struck six birdies and had an eagle on hole No. 17.

In second place was Faisalabad’s M. Siddique whose round of three under 69 was identical to what he had achieved on Friday and he aggregated 138.

Karachi’s Javed Inyat was third for the day with two under 70 for a total of 139.

The competition for senior professionals was won by Manzoor Ahmed of Lahore Garrison who totalled 152 and had a round of 71 on the final day. Abid Ali was the runner-up with a total of 153 carding three over par 75.

Meanwhile, the events for amateurs and ladies had to be cancelled because of heavy rains.

The decision of a winner in the ladies competition will be on the basis of only one round on Sunday while the amateurs contest will now be over two rounds.
