KARACHI, Jan 7: Berthing activity at the Karachi Port on Monday was fairly brisk where all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berths were allotted berths at all the wharves including Bulk Oil Piers.
Meanwhile, two ships carrying fertilizer and containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
According to KPT sources berth occupancy at the Bulk Oil Piers and the dry wharves was maintained at 67 and 57 per cent respectively, giving a better daily average.
The ships, which were berthed included Hyundai Progress, Parvat, Jamila, Safe Marine Tana, Kota Setia, Global Progress, and Song He to unload and load containers, Aurora-11 to offload general cargo, Al-Maqwa and Athenian Valour to offload high speed diesel and crude oil.
Sailing was also active as six ships, Jamila, Hyundai Progress, Global Progress, Aurora-1, Baron and Ghazvin departed, while Kota Setia, Trade Fast, Marine Trade, Song He, Parvat, Athenian Valour and Al-Maqwa are due to sail out on Tuesday.
The following ships are due on Tuesday: Matumaba, with 30,000 tons of DAP fertilizer and Wan Hai-233, with containers.
