SUKKUR, Oct 20: Sindh minister for inter-provincial coordination Sardar Nadir Akmal Khan Leghari has said that the inflow of polluted water from Punjab would be stopped soon as he had held talks with the Punjab governor over the issue.

Talking to the newsmen at Ghotki on Monday, he claimed that he wanted to root out feudalism from the Sindh province.

He said that he received Rs5 million for development works which he spent on development works of other tribal areas and left nothing for his own.

He said that Ghotki was an agro-based area and the people of the area mostly depended upon agriculture for their living, but crops had been ruined with the use of substandard pesticides.

He said that a degree college had been approved for Daharki, and added that he would meet with the chief minister, Sindh, to get approval for the funds regarding its construction.

CHARAS RECOVERED: The Excise police, Nawabshah, arrested two men, Zareen Akbar and Sahib Sultan, and recovered 80 maunds of fine quality charas from a truck, near Sakrand, on Sunday night.

The excise police were tipped off about the smuggling of charas, so they intercepted a Karachi-bound truck (E-1821) and recovered 80 maunds of fine quality charas from fruit crates. It is said to be worth millions of rupees in the international market.
