Palm oil prices up

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28: Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) futures ended up on Thursday, boosted by a rise in prices of rival Chicago soyoil and optimism over palm oil exports for August.

Palm oil’s benchmark third-month November contract closed up 14 ringgit at 1,336 ringgit ($351.58) a ton.

Volume was almost 7,000 lots, up from Wednesday’s 4,210 lots, due to switching of contracts.

September CPO for the southern and central regions of Malaysia was offered at 1,420 ringgit a ton up 10 rimggit from Wednesday against bids at 1,415.

Deals were reported at 1,410-1,415 ringgit.

October CPO for the two regions was offered/bid at 1,395/1,385 ringgit a ton. Business wad reported at 1,385 in the south. —Reuters
