ISLAMABAD, 26 Aug: A one-day seminar on transfer of technology was held at the Air Headquarters, Chaklala, on Tuesday.

Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, Chief of the Air Staff, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The seminar was attended by the senior officers of Air Force, says a press release.

The seminar carried out a detailed analysis of the various issues regarding transfer of technology and suggested measures to institute effective transfer of technology programmes.

Eminent personalities including Dr Ayesha Siddiqua Agha, Sikandar Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Wing Cdr Nadir Ali Shah (retired) enlightened the audience with their thoughts on the subject.

In addition, the presentations were made by syndicates of specialists from the Air Force, where several case studies were examined to illustrate how transfer of technology had been handled in the past in Pakistan Air Force.

Summarizing the proceedings of the seminar Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Engineering) Air Vice Marshal Iftikhar Ahmed Gul said that the mere acquisition of advanced technology does not symbolize military might, unless the military production units have the capability to transform such an expertise into affordable, high quality and high performance defence systems.

Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, in his closing address, emphasized on the importance of adopting effective Transfer of Technology strategies to achieve both economic as well as strategic goals.

He highlighted the fact that the Pakistan Air Force had always endeavoured to remain at the cutting edge of technology and would continue to adopt to the need of the day in order to remain at the forefront of the world’s Air Force.—APP
