FAISALABAD, Aug 26: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will increase the fee for the issuance of computerized identity cards from October 1.
This was claimed by district registrar Qamaruz Zaman in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the people who had not yet got their computerized ID cards should immediately submit applications because the old ID cards would be cancelled on December 31.
He said a drive had been launched by Nadra to motivate the people to get computerized cards before December 31. For their convenience, the Nadra offices at Jaranwala and Samundri tehsils have been reactivated.
He said computerized receipts would be issued to the applicants. Application forms of all the family members could be submitted by one of the members and ID cards could be obtained according to the date mentioned from the place where the application forms had been tendered.
ELECTED UNOPPOSED: Raza Nasarullah Ghumman was elected district Naib Nazim unopposed as his three rival candidates withdrew their nomination.
Mr Ghumman, Tahirul Hasan, Muhammad Iqbal and Shaukat Manj were in the race for the office.
Mr Ghumman had contested the October general election for a National Assembly seat on the PPP ticket but lost. Later, he joined the PML-Q and was nominated a candidate for the post of Naib Nazim by the Punjab chief minister.
MONITORING: The Punjab Local Government Commission has decided to monitor the working of district governments and Tehsil Municipal Administrations so that appropriate action could be taken against the local councils which are working in violation of the Punjab Local Government Ordinance, 2001.
A commission team is scheduled to visit Faisalabad on Aug 27 to monitor the performance of the district government as well as all the six TMAs — City, Samundri, Chak Jhumra, Tandlianwala, Jaranwala and Saddar.
The team will also hear the complaints of members of the local councils and issue on the spot orders.
A district government source said a comprehensive briefing had been prepared by the officials concerned to apprise the commission about their achievements and problems.
