KARACHI, Aug 25: Army soldiers of a base camp near Sonmiani coast rescued 21 fishermen of a fishing boat Al-Farooq, which capsized in the sea due to rough weather on Sunday night.
Six of the rescued fishermen had reached their homes while others were still lodged at the camp on Monday. They would reach their homes in a couple of days, the sources said.
As the soldiers spotted the boat at about 9pm on Sunday night a few kilometres from the shore, they rushed to the site with the help of pilot boats carrying necessary equipment and rescued the drowning fishermen after their boat turned turtle due to high tide.
The ill-fated boat having registration number 14400-B, with 21 persons aboard, had left Karachi Harbour a week ago for fishing. The boat was owned by Haji Daraz Khan while the captain has been identified as Jamma.—APP
