LAHORE, Aug 24: MNA and Millat Islamia chief Maulana Azam Tariq says he will table a Shariat Bill in the National Assembly within two days.

Talking to reporters after speaking at a seminar on ‘Character and personality of Abu Bakr Siddique (RA)’ at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, he claimed that all parliamentary parties would support his bill. He said he, however, desired that the MMA specially supported it.

But when contacted, a senior leader of one of the six MMA components termed the bill a mischief being caused at the behest of the government.

Maulana Tariq urged the religious conglomerate to show flexibility in their stance and settle the ongoing constitutional crisis on a give-and-take basis to ensure functioning of the existing system.

Warning the religious parties that these would suffer an irreparable loss in case of inflexible attitude, he said they should come out of the illusion being created by the PPP and the PML-N.
