SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 5: Ferozewala police claimed to have killed a proclaimed offender in an encounter who has allegedly killed former SHO of Muridke city police station Rana Farooq in the small hour of Saturday.

A Ferozewala police patrol signalled three people riding on a motorcycle on the GT Road, near Kala Shah Kaku, to stop. One of them opened fire on the police party. Police returned the fire and killed one of the outlaws on the spot.

The other two managed to escape.

The dead man was identified as Riaz alias Raju.

A police spokesman said Riaz was involved in around a dozen cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, kidnap for ransom and rape. He was wanted by the Lahore, Kasur, Okara and Faisalabad police.

About three months ago Riaz had killed Muridke SHO and injured Narang SHO in an encounter.

LOOTED: About a dozen thieves took away electric equipments worth thousands of rupees in the early hours of Saturday.

They reportedly sneaked into a power generation factory on the Faisalabad Road and escaped with booty.

A trader was deprived of Rs500,000 by three dacoits in Muridke.

Tariq Mahmood withdrew the cash from a bank. He was intercepted by three motorcyclists on the GT Road. They snatched the cash and sped away.

In another incident, a trader of Feroze Wattoowan was injured by four robbers in Rana Town locality early on Saturday morning.

The robbers sneaked into the house of Sheikh Arshad. They held the family at gunpoint and started collecting valuables. In the meantime, Arshad’s father succeeded in dodging the robbers and came out in the street. He raised an alarm and neighbours gathered outside the house. The robbers got panicked and opened fire to harass the people. A bullet hit Arshad injuring him seriously. They fled from the scene.
