SUKKUR, Aug 20: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali has said that the construction of the Kalabagh Dam is very necessary and in the interest of the country but before starting the work on the dam, the provinces will be taken into confidence.
He said this while talking to journalists at the Jacobabad circuit house on Wednesday before leaving for his hometown Rojhan Jamali.
The prime minister said that the talks on the issue of the president’s uniform and the Legal Framework Order would only be held with the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal.
Answering a question, he said that all out efforts would be made to promote better working relationship between the government and the opposition and added that the opposition must cooperate with the government to strengthen the democracy.
He said that the government was helping the rain-affected people of Sindh and Balochistan and warned that any official proved guilty of misusing the relief funds would be taken to task.
He directed Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf to make necessary arrangements for providing relief to the rain-affected people of the province.
Mr Jamali said that those involved in the terrorist activities in Karachi and other parts of the country would not be spared and dealt with iron hand.
Responding to another question, he said that it would take a little more time to lift the ban on recruitment in government departments.
The federal minister for petroleum, Naurez Shakoor, and the advisor to prime minister, Sardar Fateh Ali Umrani were also present on the occasion.
Later, talking to a delegation at the residence of Millat Party leader Niaz Shah, the prime minister said that the government was ready to provide more relief to rain and flood victims if needed.
He said that due to the recent dialogue with the opposition, the political scenario had improved.
Mr Jamali said that political activists and government officials should work for solving problems confronting the people.
Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Mir Asghar Panhwar, Jaferabad Nazim Khan Mohammad Jamali and Balochistan IG Shoaib Suddle were present on the occasion.
