ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: Pakistan and United Kingdom on Tuesday agreed to promote tourism between the two countries, and joint efforts would be made in this connection, said an official statement.
The decision was reached between the British parliamentarian, Gerald Kaufman, and minister of state for tourism, Rais Munir Ahmad.
Mr Kaufman appreciated the government for promoting tourism and cultural activities in the country.
He said this was the healthy sign for the economic stability of Pakistan and it could earn billions of rupees annually from its tourism industry. He also thanked the minister for taking interest in investment by the UK investors for the promotion of tourism.
He said efforts would be made to promote friendly ties between Pakistan and UK.
The two leaders also discussed the steps taken by the British High Commission in Pakistan to streamline visa process.
Mr Gerald extended all possible help to Pakistan to further strengthen Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation.
