JACOBABAD, Aug 19: A police head constable was killed and five constables were injured when about 15 bandits attacked the Mulguzar police picket near the Sindh-Balochistan border on Tuesday.
The policeman killed in the exchange of fire was identified as Abdul Sattar. The names of the injured could not be ascertained.
Later, the police raided a village of the Bugtis, located near the Sindh-Balochistan border, and arrested 27 men and five women.
The police said the bandits belonged to the Taboo Bugti gang. They said the bandits, who were involved in the murder of Sibi DIGP Abdul Aziz Bullo, fled towards the Murdwar mountain.
The police, Frontier Corps personnel and villagers have cordoned off the mountain so that the bandits could be forced to surrender.
KARO-KARI: A man was killed and two women were injured on the pretext of Karo-kari near ADC Colony here on Tuesday.
Dhani Baksh Lashari owed Rs85,000 to Sunhal Shah, resident of the Sherazia village. He took Mr Shah, along with his sister who had come for medical treatment, to his house in the colony where he promised to pay him the money.
Late in the night, Lashari and his accomplices axed Mr Shah to death. After killing him, the accused seriously injured his own wife, Rubina, 20. Mr Shah’s sister was also injured when she tried to resist.
In the meantime, the Civil Lines police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. His accomplices escaped.
The injured women were taken to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital.
Ishaq Shah, the cousin of the deceased, lodged an FIR against Lashari, Imdad, Ali Hassan, Mor and Suhino at the Civil Lines police station.
