HAFIZABAD, Aug 18: Two police constables were shot dead by three dacoits at a picket near Alipur Chattha here on Monday.

Constables Allah Ditta and Iftikhar Ahmad of Saddar police stopped three motorcyclists at a picket near the canal bridge for checking. As they started their body search, one of them opened fire, killing both the policemen instantly. The accused made off with the rifles of the constables.

The accused had reportedly snatched the motorcycle from Alipur Chattha early in the morning.
