LAHORE, Aug 17: The river Indus was in low flood at Guddu, Sukkur and Kotri while the Jhelum, the Chenab, the Ravi and the Sutlej were flowing normal on Sunday.
The Flood Forecasting Division expected no significant change in rivers’ flow during the next 24 hours.
The met office received reports of widespread rain of light to moderate intensity from the tribal belt of Waziristan; scattered rain of light to moderate intensity from the upper catchment of the Chenab along with Kohat, Rawalpindi and Sargodha divisions during the last 24 hours.
Upper catchment of the Jhelum also received light to moderate intensity rain while isolated light to moderate rain was reported from upper catchment of the Ravi along with Dera Ismail Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kalat divisions and northern Balochistan.
A weak monsoon current from the Arabian Sea is reaching the Punjab.
Weather experts have forecast a few showers of light to moderate intensity over the upper catchments of the Chenab, the Ravi and the Sutlej along with Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions during the next 24 hours.
Isolated light to moderate rain is also expected over central and southern NWFP, northern Balochistan and over Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions along with the upper catchment of the Jhelum.—APP
