SUKKUR, Aug 13: A villager, his wife and two sons were shot dead by five assailants in the Qazi Wah village near Humayoon, Shikarpur district, on Wednesday.
According to a witness, five occupants of a car entered the village and opened indiscriminate fire.
As a result Wahid Bukhsh, son of Umar Chandio; 60, his wife, Ameeran, 55; and two sons, Zamir Ahmed, 35, and Ghulam Shabbir, 32; were killed on the spot.
After committing the crime, the assailants fled without being interrupted by anyone.
Zarina, the wife of Mr Ahmed, lodged an FIR with the Humayoon police against Zulfiqar, Himmat, Ghulam Qadir, Khadim and Janib of the Magsi tribe, and Deedar, Suhbat, Nazeer and Baloch of the Chandio tribe.
The police were conducting raids to arrest the killers but no one was arrested till the filing of this report.
Sources in the police said that the murders were the outcome of a dispute over Karo-kari. The killers actually wanted to kill a Karo-kari accused Mohammad Ashiq, the third son of Wahid Bukhsh, who was not present in his village at the time of the attack.
Sources further said that Ashiq was accused of having illicit relations with a woman of the Magsi tribe who was declared Kari by her relatives.
Zarina’s relatives asked the Chandio family to hand Ashiq over to them but they refused, sources said.
ELDERLY WOMAN KILLED: Meanwhile, a woman of 60 years age was shot dead on the pretext of Karo-kari in the jurisdiction of the Abad police of the Sukkur area on Tuesday.
Pirano Kharos, son of the deceased woman, lodged an FIR against Ghulam Hussain, Lal Bukhsh, Naik Mohammad and Budhal, all Kharos by caste.
Pirano stated that his mother was innocent and the accused killed her due to an old enmity.
