LAHORE, Jan 4: An anti-terrorism court on Friday sent 17 activists of militant groups on judicial remand.

The Punjab police had launched a crackdown and arrested more than 80 activists of different jihadi outfits and militant groups in the province.

Majority of the activists belonged to the Lashkar-i-Taiba, Jaish-i-Mohammad, Tehrik-i-Jaferia Pakistan and Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan.

Some 18 of the activists were taken into custody from the city and its suburban areas. Another 20 were arrested from Faisalabad and the remaining from the other parts of the province.

ARREST: Saddar police arrested a woman and her two brothers in connection with the murder of her husband in Iqbal Town.

The body of Ashraf, reportedly a drug-addict, was found outside his house a couple of weeks ago.

Police, during investigation, learnt that his wife Shahida and brothers-in-law Sabir and Akbar killed him for not quitting the habit.
