Cardiology ward built at DHQ hospital

GUJRANWALA, Aug 10: The building department handed over cardiology ward to the administration of district headquarters (DHQ) hospital here on Sunday.

The ward has been constructed on schedule with contributions from the local chamber of commerce and industry and social welfare organizations.

Medical Superintendent Dr Ali Mohammad said the ward would start functioning after induction of cardiologists.

POLICE CLAIMS: The district police claim to have busted 275 proclaimed offenders and two dozen gangs of dacoits and robbers in the month of July, claimed DPO Saud Aziz at a meeting.

He said the police had recovered three Kalashnikovs, 18 rifles, 19 guns, 20 revolvers, 108 pistols, six carbines and 798 cartridges besides looted goods worth Rs4.2 million from their possession.

At least 187 cases of possession of illicit arms were registered. As many as 371 fugitives were nabbed.

The traffic police issued 15,266 tickets for traffic violations during the month.

SP (traffic) Intisar Jafri said that 1,945 vehicles were impounded and 1,945 drivers arrested for serious violations. The route permits of 31 vehicles and licences of 131 drivers were cancelled.
