GUJRANWALA, Aug 8: The inquiry committee comprising DHQ Hospital’s doctors has suggested that the dialysis unit should be handed over to the hospital administration instead of an NGO after getting an approval from the Health department.
It is stated that the NGO, controlling the dialysis unit at the DHQ Hospital, wanted to install a dialysis machine in the gynae ward. But doctors and paramedical staff besides the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) opposed it and threatened to observe a strike in protest. They had alleged that NGO members were harassing lady doctors and other staff for opposing to install the dialysis machine.
The Punjab chief minister had suspended DHQ Hospital’s MS Dr Shafqat Hashmi for his failure to resolve the dispute between the NGO and DHQ doctors some two weeks ago. He had also ordered a probe into the matter and deputed the EDO (Health) as an inquiry officer who has yet not submitted his report.
ACQUITTED: A local court on Friday acquitted two murder accused when witnesses changed their statements here on Friday.
According to the prosecution, Waqar had killed his rival Ijaz in jail some time back while Fauzia had killed her lover in Model Town some two years ago.
