MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 8: The Muttahida Jihad Council said on Friday that track-II diplomacy could not deliver unless India showed sincerity and seriousness to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
“There will not be any change in the present volcano-like situation with the visits of Ramjethmalani’s committee or other parliamentary and journalistic delegations,” said the council at its meeting here.
According to a press release, the meeting was presided over by the council’s chairman Syed Salahuddin, the chief of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
“Track-II diplomacy will prove to be nothing but a futile exercise unless India accepts the ground realities and historical facts and shows seriousness and sincerity for the settlement of the 55-year old dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiris,” the meeting observed.
It urged the Pakistani leadership “to focus its attention on the basic and core issue instead of engaging in the so-called confidence building measures.”
“We also call upon the international community to make solid efforts to provide security of life, property and honour to the oppressed Kashmiris by stopping India from committing state terrorism in the occupied territory,” it said.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the pace of the armed struggle and reiterated its resolve to carry it on.
