LAHORE, Aug 6: Following the directions by the prime minister, the Punjab government has now decided to observe the Independence Day in a low key.
The provincial government had earlier decided to observe the day with a fanfare. But the prime minister has asked the provincial government to observe it simply because of the loss of property and life due to rain and flood in Sindh and Balochistan.
The decision to follow the prime minister’s instructions was taken in a meeting which was presided over by the chief secretary here on Wednesday.
It was decided not to illuminate government buildings and hold music, stage and fireworks shows. The flag hoisting ceremonies would be held in a simple manner.
