ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The Capital Development Authority Employees’ Union has said it will move the court against fresh appointments in the organization instead of promotion of the existing staff on vacant posts.

Union president Farhat Kamal Pasha, who is contesting a referendum in the CDA, alleged that the authority had violated various agreements regarding promotion and recruitment.

The National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) has announced that the referendum will be held on Aug 16.

Mr Pasha, who had won the referendum five times in the past, told Dawn that the CDA administration had reached various agreements with the CBA under which the authority was bound to fill vacant posts by promoting the existing staff. However, he added, the CDA had put an advertisement in a newspaper on Aug 5 for fresh inductions.

He said the CDA employees had been working on the same pay-scales for the last 25 years without promotions.

He said under another agreement, the CDA was bound to provide jobs to the children of its employees on vacant posts, but it was also violating this agreement by ignoring the employees’ children.

“We have very talented and skilled workers who can be appointed on technical posts,” he claimed.

“We want promotions on the basis of seniority, but the CDA bureaucracy wants to induct their relatives and friends on the vacant posts.
